Saat dia sadar bahwa waktu hidupnya sudah tidak lama lagi, Liang membuat sebuah keputusan besar. Bocah tersebut mengatakan pada sang ibu bahwa dia ingin menyumbangkan organ dalamnya. Alasannya pun sungguh mulia. Liang ingin menyelamatkan nyawa anak-anak lain.

Guru sekolah Liang mengatakan bahwa ternyata, selama dia sakit, bocah tersebut mempelajari tentang donasi organ dari buku-buku di sekolahnya.Liang membaca sebuah kisah seseorang yang menyumbangkan sumsum tulang untuk menolong penderita leukimia. Dia juga membaca sebuah buku berjudul Immortal Eyes.

"Aku sudah melihat banyak orang melakukan kebaikan dan aku rasa mereka hebat. Aku juga ingin menjadi anak yang hebat," kata Liang pada sang ibu, Li Qun.

Liang juga mengatakan bahwa menyumbangkan organ adalah cara lain untuk tetap hidup. Liang akhirnya meninggal pada 6 Juni 2014.

Dokter mengambil hati dan ginjalnya yang digunakan untuk transplantasi orang yang membutuhkan. Para karyawan rumah sakit yang menemani saat-saat akhir Liang sangat tersentuh dengan keberaniannya. Seorang pegawai berhasil mengabadikan momen dimana para dokter membungkukkan badan, memberi penghormatan pada bocah berusia 11 tahun tersebut.

Para dokter memberi hormat sebanyak 3 kali untuk menunjukkan penghargaan terbesar untuknya. Terlihat pula sang ibu yang terlihat menangis di ujung lorong rumah sakit. Liang selalu bercita-cita menjadi seorang pebisnis yang sukses. Dia ingin membahagiakan sang ibu, Li Qun.

Liang dipastikan meninggal sebagai pahlawan. Dia akan terus hidup dalam organ yang sudah ia sumbangkan.
